The Linda Mwananchi brigade is set to hold a rally in Busia county as the political movement continues to expand its grassroots mobilisation.
The Busia event will bring together leaders and supporters for a meet-and-greet rally aimed at engaging residents and building support for the movement.
The rally comes after successful Linda Mwananchi events in Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties a fortnight ago, as the group continues its outreach across the region.
The planned Busia visit also comes a day after a section of residents said they were ready to welcome Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who has emerged as one of the key political figures associated with the Linda Mwananchi campaign.
The leaders are expected to use the meet-and-greet to interact with residents and rally support ahead of the August 16 event in Homa Bay.
During the weekend, they are scheduled to tour Kakamega county.
The movement has in recent months intensified its grassroots activities, with leaders visiting different parts of the country to mobilise residents and popularise its agenda.
DCI brief on Dr Victoria Mutiso murder probe
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is set to provide an update on investigations into the murder of Dr Victoria Mutiso.
Mutiso was shot dead on the morning of Wednesday, July 29, while travelling in a taxi along Raila Odinga Way in Nairobi.
Her killing triggered a major investigation by homicide detectives, who have been pursuing several leads, including a possible connection to a long-running matrimonial property dispute involving her family.
At least four suspects have since been arraigned in court as detectives continue with the probe.
The DCI is expected to provide an update on the progress of the investigation.
Equity to commission 121 scholars heading to universities abroad
Equity Group Foundation is set to commission 121 Equity Leaders Program (ELP) scholars who will depart for undergraduate studies at 63 leading universities across 16 countries.
The commissioning ceremony will be held at Equity Centre in Upper Hill, Nairobi, and will be presided over by Equity Group Foundation Executive Chairman and Equity Group Managing Director and CEO Dr James Mwangi.
The scholars, drawn from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), have secured scholarships valued at a combined $23.4 million.
The beneficiaries will pursue undergraduate studies at universities across different countries, with the cohort including students admitted to several Ivy League institutions.
The Equity Leaders Program seeks to support academically gifted students by providing them with opportunities to pursue higher education at leading universities.
The latest cohort adds to the programme's growing number of scholars benefiting from scholarships and mentorship opportunities as they prepare to pursue studies outside their home countries.
