The High Court has ruled that Kenya’s next General Election ought to be held this month and not on the scheduled date of August 10, 2027. Delivering the judgment in Malindi, Justice Mugure Thande said the Constitution requires the election to be conducted in August of the fifth year after the previous poll which should have been held in August 2021 . However, the judge suspended the implementation of the ruling to avoid disrupting the electoral calendar and to allow time for appeals.
