Former freedom fighters have renewed calls for compensation over colonial-era atrocities, saying many families still suffer decades after independence. Under the Matigari Welfare Association, the veterans are demanding Sh550 trillion in compensation from both the British and Kenyan governments. Speaking at Ruring’u Grounds in Nyeri, Secretary General Everton Mukunya also urged the government to allocate land to veterans who remain without homes.
