The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has taken over investigations into the death of 19-year-old boda boda rider Eric Otieno, who allegedly died after being severely assaulted while in police custody at Muthaiga Police Station. In a statement, National Police Service spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said the police will fully cooperate with IPOA to ensure a thorough, impartial, and timely investigation. Police have also appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
