Senator Methu joins other leaders and supporters at court as Kaguchia faces proceedings/LEAH MUKANGAINyandarua Senator John Methu has joined supporters at the Milimani Law Courts in solidarity with Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia as he prepares to face court proceedings.
Kaguchia arrived at the Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday morning after spending the night in custody at Kamukunji Police Station.
He was accompanied by Manyatta MP John Mukunji, among other leaders and a battery of lawyers led by Ndegwa Njiru.
Methu later joined the group at the court premises, standing in solidarity with the Mukurweini legislator as he awaited his appearance before the court.
Speaking after spending the night in custody, Kaguchia said the experience had strengthened his resolve to pursue justice.
“Good morning! A night in the police cell has only strengthened our resolve and commitment to justice,” he said. “Today, we soldier on!”

He is set to face a charge of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of peace.
"On the 1st day of August 2026 at Naromoru Shopping Centre within Kieni East Sub-County in Nyeri County, knowingly and intentionally used words in the Kikuyu language to wit...with intent to provoke a breach of peace," the charge sheet reads.
The court appearance follows a series of orders issued by the High Court concerning his detention and access to legal representation.
“THAT pending inter partes hearing of the said Motion, an order is hereby issued compelling the Respondents to immediately produce and arraign the Petitioner (Kaguchia) before the nearest court of competent jurisdiction within the time prescribed by Article 49(1)(f) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010,” the judge directed.
The court also ordered that his lawyers be granted unimpeded access to and communication with him at any time or stage of his arrest and detention.
The judge further ordered that Kaguchia be admitted to a personal bond of Sh500,000 pending the inter partes hearing.
In separate orders, the High Court in Kiambu ordered his release from police custody upon payment of a Sh100,000 police cash bail.
In orders issued on Monday, Lady Justice Njoki Mwangi directed that Kaguchia be released immediately after depositing the cash bail as his application proceeded before the court.
“The applicant shall be released forthwith from police custody upon deposit of police cash bail in the sum of Sh100,000,” the court order stated.
The MP was arrested on Monday and initially taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters before being transferred to Kamukunji Police Station, where he spent the night.
His legal team said it had not been formally informed of the specific reasons for his arrest. The lawyers also raised concerns over the confiscation of Kaguchia’s phone and what they described as restrictions on access to him after his arrest.
Authorities had not publicly announced the charges Kaguchia could face by Tuesday morning.
The legislator had spent Monday night at the Royal Media Services premises after appearing for a television interview.
