Haki Africa has called on investigative agencies to probe allegations that some MPs and senators received bribes to support the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. The civil society group urged lawmakers who have publicly claimed that bribery occurred to present evidence to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for investigation and possible legal action. Haki Africa said allegations of bribery in Parliament are a serious setback to the country’s governance and democratic institutions.
