Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s son Dan Totto was on Saturday, August 1 evening involved in a road accident.
Police said they were investigating the incident.
Dan Obado, popularly known as Dan Totto, was involved in a road accident on August 1 while travelling from Nairobi to Migori.
He was driving a Lexus LX 600 at the time of the crash.
He is said to have sustained minor injuries in the crash and was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
He took to social media, further confirming the accident, noting that the car he was in had three people inside.
In a statement, Totto said he was traveling from Nairobi to Migori when the accident occurred.
Totto noted that all three occupants in the vehicle he was driving escaped with minor injuries
He further thanked friends and relatives for sending him messages of quick recovery and prayers
"To friends and relatives, I thank you so much for sending me the best if wishes and prayers. It’s true I was in an accident on my way home from Nairobi," Dan stated.
"Luckily, all three occupants in the vehicle I was driving and the driver of the other car (he was alone) escaped with minor injuries. In all, we give thanks to the lord."
The accident came hours after more than eight people were killed in a crash in Meru County.
On Saturday alone, 11 people were killed in separate accidents in the country, police said.
This brings the total to 36, the number of people killed in separate accidents in the country at the weekend alone.
This comes amid operations to stop the trend.
Road fatalities have continued to rise despite ongoing enforcement and public awareness campaigns.
Authorities attribute most crashes to reckless overtaking, speeding and drunk driving, while mechanical defects such as worn-out tyres, faulty brakes and poor vehicle maintenance have also been cited as major contributing factors.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the National Police Service have repeatedly urged motorists to observe traffic rules, maintain roadworthy vehicles and exercise extra caution, particularly on highways and accident-prone sections of the road network.
