Detectives have launched investigations into the killing of a 24-year-old man who was allegedly abducted from his home before his body was found hours later in Mumias West Sub-County, Kakamega County.
The deceased's sister told police she was asleep when she heard a knock at the door. When she opened it, she found a group of people outside the homestead carrying a bright torch.
She told investigators the group forced its way into the house and took away her brother, Nehemiah Okwaro, also known as "Zeddy."
At about 7 a.m., his body was found lying on a murram road.
Police officers who visited the scene found the body lying in a pool of blood with multiple deep cuts to the neck, head, hands, chest and legs. Investigators believe the injuries were inflicted with a sharp object.
The motive for the killing has not been established.
Crime scene investigators documented the scene before the body was moved to Butere Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those responsible.
Meanwhile, police in Igoji Sub-County, Meru County, are investigating the death of a 40-year-old woman following a reported domestic dispute with her husband.
The incident was reported on Thursday by the woman's husband, who told police that his wife, Mercy Kagendo, had returned home while intoxicated, leading to a disagreement between them.
According to the police report, at about 5 a.m., Kagendo asked for drinking water. Her husband told investigators that when he attempted to wake her at around 7:30 a.m., she was unresponsive. He sought help from neighbours to take her to hospital, but they realised she had already died.
Police visited the scene and found the body lying on the ground about 50 metres from the couple's house, covered with a blanket.
Investigators established that neighbours had moved her from the house with the intention of taking her to hospital but placed her on the ground after discovering she had died.
Police said there were no blood stains on the body or inside the house. However, officers noted visible bruises on the woman's left wrist and are treating the death as a suspected murder pending further investigations.
The scene was documented and processed before the body was moved to Kanyakine District Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Police said investigations are continuing to establish the exact cause and circumstances of the woman's death.
