Gachagua gifted goats as Maa community pays him a visit at Wamunyoro residence/FBFormer Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been gifted goats during a visit by a section of the Maa community from Narok to his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County.
The delegation, led by Narok Town MCA Douglas Masikonde, visited Gachagua as the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader continued his consultations with communities and grassroots leaders ahead of the 2027 general election.
Pictures shared from the meeting showed members of the delegation arriving in their distinctive Maasai red attire, with some wearing traditional beadwork and carrying rungus, traditional walking sticks commonly associated with the Maasai community.
The delegation also presented goats to Gachagua as part of the visit, which Masikonde described as an opportunity to appreciate the former deputy president for his support during his political journey.
“My cousins from Narok, the Maa community, you gave our party DCP, its first-born son Hon. Douglas Masikonde,” Gachagua said in a post on Facebook.
He was referring to the by-elections held earlier in November last year, which saw Masikonde win the ward seat.

“I thank you wholeheartedly for this and the support you have always shown. I have received your views on the liberation of our country, Kenya and the formation of the 6th administration. Consultations continue,” Gachagua said.
Masikonde said he led the delegation to Gachagua for a consultative meeting and to thank him for supporting him during his election.
He recalled that Gachagua had stood with him during what he described as one of the most challenging moments of his political career, including speaking out in his defence despite facing pressure.
“As a firstborn, I believe it is important to lead by example by going back to appreciate those who stood with us when it mattered most,” Masikonde said.
He was accompanied by aspirants for various elective positions in Narok, including candidates eyeing MCA positions in Narok West, Narok South and Kilgoris.
The visit comes amid Gachagua’s increasingly active political consultations at his Wamunyoro home, where he has hosted delegations and grassroots leaders from different parts of the country.
The consultations have seen him engage communities beyond his Mt Kenya political base as he seeks to build support for his political movement and its ambitions ahead of the next elections.
Earlier this week, the DCP leader met members of the Somali community at his Wamunyoro residence on Wednesday, July 29.
“Our relationship with the Somali community is our life and our future. As a leader from Mount Kenya and a leader of Kenya, I will not allow other leaders or anyone else acting on political instructions to come between us and the Somalis,” Gachagua said during the meeting.
