Detectives in Kisumu East subcounty have launched investigations into the murder of a 32-year-old man whose body was found in a rented room at Mamboleo Market on Monday.

Cops are probing whether the killing was linked to a suspected love triangle.

The incident was reported after the body was discovered inside a single room behind a posho mill at Mamboleo Market.

The deceased was identified as Charles Aswani, 32. He was a posho mill worker.

His body was found lying face down near the bed.

Police said he sustained injuries to the back of the head and face, while rope marks were visible around his neck, suggesting he may have been strangled.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had told a colleague that he was expecting a female visitor on the day of the incident.

Detectives are investigating reports that the woman was allegedly married.

Investigators also recovered a chilling handwritten message on the wall of the room, believed to have been left by the assailant.

The message alleged that the deceased had been involved in an affair with the writer’s wife and accused him of infecting several people with a disease.

The message also claimed the deceased was not a thief.

Police are treating the writing as part of the evidence but have not verified the claims contained in it.

The body was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the identity of the killer and the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Police said they were pursuing more information on the incident with hopes of arresting the assailant.
