Two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of renowned clinical psychologist and mental health researcher Dr Victoria Mutiso are expected to be arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts as detectives intensify investigations into her death.

Mutiso was ambushed moments after arriving at the Africa Institute of Mental and Brain Health in Upper Hill on Wednesday morning, in an incident that investigators believe may have been targeted.

At the time of her death, Mutiso served as head of research at the Africa Mental Health Research and Training Foundation (AMHRTF), where she was involved in mental health research and training.

AUSSOM summit to be held in Uganda

Uganda is set to host the Second Extraordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), bringing together leaders and senior officials from countries contributing troops to the mission.

The summit, running from July 29 to 31, brings together heads of state and government from Burundi, Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Uganda to deliberate on security and stabilisation efforts in Somalia.

Senior representatives from the African Union (AU), United Nations and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) are also taking part in the high-level meeting.

The summit comes as regional countries continue to coordinate efforts to address the security situation in Somalia and support the country's security forces in combating Al-Shabaab.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is expected to attend the summit, having left Kenya on Friday morning for Uganda.

Kindiki was seen off by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya and security personnel before departing aboard a flight.

Murkomen to attend thanksgiving ceremonies in Embu, Baringo

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is set to attend thanksgiving ceremonies in Embu and Baringo counties during the day.

Murkomen will first attend a Thanksgiving Ceremony at St Stephen’s Secondary School, Kagaari in Embu county.

He will later travel to Baringo county, where he is scheduled to preside over a Thanksgiving and Alumni Ceremony at Barpelo High School in Tiaty at noon.

The engagements will see the Interior CS interact with students, alumni and local communities during the ceremonies.
