Kenya Meteorological Department has listed 21 counties expected to receive rainfall on Friday, July 31, with showers forecast across parts of the Rift Valley, western Kenya and the Central Highlands.
In its daily weather forecast, the department said residents in several counties should prepare for light to moderate rainfall, with isolated areas likely to receive heavier showers.
The affected counties in the Rift Valley and western Kenya are Uasin Gishu, Bungoma, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Vihiga, Bomet, Nandi, Meru, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Nyamira and Kisii.
In the Central Kenya region, rainfall is expected in Kirinyaga, Embu, Murang'a, Nyeri and Nyandarua counties.
The weatherman also forecast intermittent cool and cloudy conditions in parts of Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang'a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Kitui, Makueni and Kajiado.
These conditions are expected to persist for much of the day, with occasional sunny breaks in some areas.
Meanwhile, strong winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 metres per second) are expected over parts of Marsabit, Isiolo, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, Tana River, Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu and Kitui for the better part of Friday.
In Nairobi, residents should expect cool and cloudy conditions during the morning before sunny intervals develop later in the day.
There is also a chance of light rainfall in some areas. Daytime temperatures in the capital are expected to range between 20°C and 24°C, while night-time temperatures are forecast to fall to between 12°C and 15°C.
Murang'a county is expected to remain largely cloudy, with light rain and fog in some areas during the morning before giving way to sunny intervals.
The afternoon and evening will be mainly sunny, although isolated light showers cannot be ruled out. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy.
Along the Coast, the Kenya Meteorological Department said dry and windy conditions will dominate during the forecast period ending August 3.
However, a few places may receive brief morning showers at the beginning of the forecast period.
Maximum daytime temperatures along the coastal strip are expected to range between 29°C and 30°C, while minimum temperatures will average around 23°C.
The department also warned that moderate to strong southerly winds of between 7 and 10 metres per second (14 to 20 knots) will persist throughout the forecast period, leading to moderate to rough sea conditions.
"Caution is strongly advised while conducting marine activities in deep seas during the week," the department said.
