Political analyst Calvin Muga says if President William Ruto opts to replace Deputy President Kithure Kindiki ahead of the 2027 General Election, his choice is likely to be driven more by political mobilization than performance in office. Muga argues that the President's priority would be a running mate capable of energising voters and expanding his support base, rather than one expected to recover support in the Mt. Kenya region, which he believes Ruto has largely lost.
