The speech is likely to highlight the experiences of Azerbaijan, Singapore and China, showcasing how nations that once grappled with poverty and underdevelopment implemented strategic reforms, invested in infrastructure, industrialisation and human capital, and emerged as global economic success stories.
The President is expected to argue that Kenya possesses similar potential and that with sustained reforms, prudent economic management and national unity, the country can chart a comparable path to prosperity.
The address is also expected to build on the commitments Ruto made during his most recent State of the Nation Address, delivered on November 20, 2025, before a joint sitting of Parliament.
NCRC to launch report on illegal donkey skin trade in Kenya
The National Crime Research Centre (NCRC) to launch report on illegal donkey skin trade in Kenya at The Norfolk Hotel.
The report, titled Theft and Illegal Trade in Donkey Skins and Related Products in Kenya, is the first comprehensive national study examining the scale, drivers and impacts of donkey theft and the illicit trade in donkey skins.
According to the NCRC, the findings expose the complex nature of the illegal trade, including the involvement of organised criminal actors, sophisticated supply chain networks and the growing threat posed by transnational organised crime.
The study also outlines a raft of recommendations aimed at strengthening law enforcement responses, enhancing policy and legislative frameworks, improving inter-agency coordination, promoting regional cooperation and safeguarding Kenya’s donkey population.
The report comes at a time when Kenya is intensifying efforts to curb illegal donkey slaughter and trafficking following the government’s ban on commercial donkey slaughter for skin production.
NuPEA CEO Justus Wabuyabo to appear before Energy Committee
Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) CEO Justus Ambutsi Wabuyabo will appear before the Energy Committee over the nuclear project earmarked for Siaya County.
Wabuyabo will appear before the committee at Parliament Buildings, 10 am.
Siaya County has emerged as the focal point of Kenya's ambitious plan to establish its first nuclear power plant, with the government advancing technical studies and stakeholder engagement ahead of the project's anticipated construction.
The proposed nuclear power plant, expected to generate 2,000 megawatts of electricity, is planned for the Lwanda Kotieno area in Rarieda Constituency.
The site was identified after the government shifted its preferred location from Kilifi County, where the project faced sustained public opposition.
President William Ruto's administration has indicated that construction of the multi-billion-shilling facility is targeted to begin in 2027, with the plant expected to be commissioned by 2034.
Once completed, it will become Kenya's first nuclear power station and one of the largest electricity generation projects in the country's history.
Busia, Garissa governors to face Senate committee over firefighting, disaster management
Governors Paul Otuoma (Busia) and Nathif Jama (Garissa) to appear before Senate Committee on National Security to respond to firefighting and disaster Management queries.
The two governors will appear before the committee at, Bunge Towers, 11 am.
The two governors are expected to brief senators on the state of emergency preparedness, including the availability of firefighting equipment, staffing levels within county fire and rescue departments, response times to emergencies, and measures put in place to enhance disaster risk reduction.
The committee is also expected to seek updates on county investments in fire stations, emergency response infrastructure and collaboration with national agencies during major disasters.
The session comes amid growing concern over the frequency of fire incidents, floods and other emergencies that have exposed gaps in disaster preparedness across several counties.
