The Lamu County Government and the Kenya Tourism Board will develop a joint marketing master plan to brand Lamu as the “Island of Festivals.” Governor Issa Timamy said the partnership will boost the county’s profile as a premier cultural and coastal tourism destination while opening economic opportunities for residents. The initiative will focus on coordinated marketing, infrastructure, conservation and event management to showcase Lamu’s rich Swahili heritage and maritime culture.
