FC Head Coach Robert Matano (Left) and Patron Azu Ogola at a past function/ HANDOUT KCB FC have strengthened both their technical bench and playing squad, with the appointment of two coaches and the signing of seven players ahead of the 2026/27 SportPesa League season.
The bankers have appointed Peter Okidi Okoth as assistant coach following his departure from newly promoted Mombasa United, as Bonface Olouch Otieno joins from Gor Mahia as the club’s new goalkeeping coach.
KCB have also revamped their squad with the arrival of seven new players. They include right-back Mark Oduor from Shabana FC, left-back Jim Owili (Mara Sugar), defensive midfielder Fidel Origa (Gor), attacking midfielder Brian Ouru (Mathare United), Burundian winger Franck Nduwimana ( Rwanda’s Gorilla), striker Assis Mambote (Shabana) and central midfielder Geoffrey Ojunga (Bandari).
The recruitment drive comes as part of a major squad overhaul following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, in which KCB finished seventh in the FKF Premier League and fourth in the FKF Cup.
Head coach Robert Matano said the club had carefully identified players who fit his philosophy and ambitions. “We have been deliberate in identifying players who fit the way we want to play and who possess the quality, discipline and mentality required at KCB. The reinforcement of our technical bench will ensure that we are better prepared for the demands of the new season,” said Matano.
The club has also strengthened its backroom staff by appointing Tobby Owino as video analyst last season. Samuel Macharia, who returned during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign, will continue as the club’s strength and conditioning coach.
KCB FC Patron Azu Ogola said the latest additions underline the club’s determination to compete for honours. “KCB have consistently demonstrated their ambition to compete at the highest level, and these changes reflect our commitment to building a team capable of challenging for trophies. We have assembled a strong technical team and recruited quality players who share our vision."
“As we head into the new season, our expectations are clear: we want to be competitive in every match and make our supporters proud through consistent performances,” said Ogola.
The bankers will be hoping the new arrivals provide the quality and depth needed to mount a stronger challenge for domestic silverware in the upcoming campaign under veteran coach Matano.
