Bolt has launched a global integration with ChatGPT, allowing customers to begin the ride-hailing process through the artificial intelligence platform before completing their bookings in the Bolt app.

In a statement, the company said the integration has been rolled out simultaneously across every market where Bolt operates, instead of introducing the feature country by country.

The rollout also makes Bolt the first ride-hailing platform available through ChatGPT across the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

According to the company, the integration gives ChatGPT's estimated 900 million weekly users direct access to Bolt's ride-hailing service for the first time.

Customers using ChatGPT can request information about a trip, receive an upfront fare estimate, compare route options and view the estimated arrival time of a driver without leaving the AI assistant.

The platform also recommends the most suitable pickup location to help reduce waiting times.

Once the user decides to proceed with the trip, the journey details are transferred to the Bolt application, where the booking is completed.

Bolt said payments will continue to be processed through its app during the initial rollout, although it plans to introduce direct payments within ChatGPT later this year.

The company said the move reflects changing consumer behaviour as artificial intelligence increasingly becomes a tool for planning daily activities, including travel.

Citing Accenture's Consumer Pulse Research 2025, which surveyed 18,000 consumers across 14 countries, Bolt said 80 per cent of travellers globally now use AI tools for travel-related purposes, while more than half said they would be willing to allow AI to manage their travel arrangements.

Bolt Senior Vice President Paddy Partridge said travel planning is increasingly taking place through AI-powered conversations rather than across multiple applications.

"People don't plan their evening in five different apps anymore. A lot of that planning happens in one conversation with AI now," Partridge said.

He said the company believes requesting a ride should become as simple as asking an AI assistant for one.

"For years, booking a ride meant opening a dedicated ride-hailing app. As more everyday interactions take place through AI, we think requesting a ride should be just as straightforward: ask, see the price, and go," he said.

The company said customers will be able to access the feature through the ChatGPT app store.

Bolt said the latest integration is part of its efforts to simplify the booking process as artificial intelligence becomes more widely used in everyday digital interactions.

While bookings initiated through ChatGPT will still require users to complete the transaction in the Bolt app for now, the company said enabling payments directly within ChatGPT remains part of its future plans.
