AA Kenya has opened its 100th branch in Nairobi's Central Business District, marking a major milestone in its expansion strategy as the mobility solutions provider sets its sights on listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

Speaking during the launch on Thursday, Group Managing Director Francis Theuri said the new branch reflects the organisation's commitment to bringing its services closer to customers while positioning the company for its next phase of growth.

"This is more than the opening of another branch. It is a celebration of more than a century of service, resilience and transformation. It is also a strong statement that AA Kenya continues to evolve, innovate and invest in bringing world-class mobility solutions closer to the people we serve," Theuri said.

The new outlet is located in Nairobi's original town centre, where the Automobile Association of Kenya first established its headquarters in the early 1900s.

Theuri said the location carries historical significance because the monument constructed by AA marked the starting point for measuring distances across Kenya and East Africa.

"Today, we return to our roots. But we do so with our eyes firmly on the future," he said.

Founded in 1919, AA Kenya said it has played a key role in the country's transport sector over the past century.

According to Theuri, the organisation contributed to the development of early road infrastructure, established the country's first fuel station, introduced the first driving school, and pioneered services such as vehicle inspection, valuation, roadside assistance, rescue and recovery.

He said the company had deliberately accelerated its branch expansion over the past two decades to improve access to services across the country.

"In 2007, AA Kenya had 32 branches. We made a deliberate decision to expand to every county and every major town because AA Kenya belongs to Kenyans," he said.

He added that the company now has a presence in towns including Nairobi, Diani, Garissa, Kapsabet, Kitui, Homa Bay, Isiolo and Narok, among others.

Theuri said the CBD branch is strategically positioned to serve commuters, matatu operators, businesses, professional drivers, banks, insurance companies and savings and credit cooperative societies.

"This branch is not just a location. It is a promise. A promise that AA Kenya will continue to show up where Kenyans need us most," he said.

He also said the opening follows the company's transition from a member-based society into a public limited company, a move he said was aimed at unlocking capital, strengthening governance and supporting long-term growth.

"The opening of this branch is one of the first visible outcomes of that transformation. It shows what is possible when an organisation embraces change with clear purpose," he said.

Theuri said AA Kenya is now preparing for another milestone by pursuing a listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

"Our aspiration to list on the Nairobi Securities Exchange is not simply a financial milestone. It is a strategic commitment to transparency, accountability and shared prosperity," he said.

According to the company, the listing will strengthen its capital base and support investments in digital platforms, new regions, emerging mobility technologies and customer-focused services.

Speaking during the launch, Director of Business Channels Daniel Kiprono said the branch was established in response to growing customer demand within Nairobi's commercial centre.

"The CBD remains one of the busiest commercial centres in the country, serving thousands of commuters, motorists, business owners, professionals and travellers every day. Having a presence here allows us to bring our services directly to where our customers need them most," he said.

Kiprono said the branch has been designed to serve boda boda riders through rider training and licensing services while also providing international driving permits, Carnet de Passage documentation, flight delay assistance and other mobility-related services.

"Our objective is to provide a seamless, one-stop service experience that saves our customers time while delivering the quality and professionalism they have come to expect from AA Kenya," he said.

He added that the company remains focused on strengthening its nationwide branch network and improving customer experience as demand for mobility services continues to grow.
