Savannah Honey Beekeeping Limited has been named the Leading Beekeeping Enterprise of the Year 2026.

The recognition has placed the Kenyan agribusiness at the centre of efforts to promote beekeeping, natural wellness and sustainable livelihoods.

The award was presented by Dependable Brands Africa during a ceremony at Sarit Centre, Nairobi, where the organisation honoured the 100 Most Dependable Brands in Kenya.

The recognition comes as Savannah Honey expands its efforts to empower Kenyans through beekeeping, with the company targeting 100,000 beneficiaries through a microfinance programme.

Chief executive officer Kyalo Mutua said the company had already enabled 3,000 groups and 10,000 individuals across the country to venture into beekeeping.

“Across Kenya, a quiet revolution is buzzing. Savannah Honey Beekeeping Centre is empowering people to take control of their future, one hive at a time,” Mutua said.

He said the initiative was designed to provide more than financial support to aspiring beekeepers.

“We don’t just give loans. We give skills, equipment and a ready market. Whether you are a youth group, a women’s chama or an individual looking for extra income, Savannah Honey is your partner in growth,” he said.

The company’s long-term goal is to reach 100,000 Kenyans through the initiative and position beekeeping as a viable source of income and sustainable livelihoods.

The award was welcomed by guests and members of the audience, who said it demonstrated the potential of Kenyan enterprises in the agricultural value chain.

“This is a proud moment for a Kenyan business that is showing how agriculture can be transformed into a successful enterprise. Beekeeping has enormous potential, especially for communities seeking sustainable sources of income,” Davidson Mutua a attendee said.

Customers also welcomed the recognition, saying it strengthened their confidence in the company’s products.

“I have always looked for natural products that I can trust. This recognition gives customers even more confidence in the quality of Savannah Honey products,” said Peris Njeri a customer.

Mutua said the award was a recognition of the confidence placed in the company by its customers, partners, farmers and employees.

“We are deeply grateful and proud of this recognition. This award belongs to every person who believes in natural wellness, quality and the importance of supporting local farmers,” he said.

The company’s leadership team, comprising Mutua, programme manager Winfred Muindi and administrator Millicent Atieno, was also acknowledged for its role in guiding the enterprise.

Savannah Honey said it would continue promoting natural bee-derived wellness products while expanding opportunities for communities through beekeeping.

The company said its programme would continue supporting groups and individuals with financing, training, equipment and market linkages needed to build sustainable beekeeping enterprises.
