President William Ruto on Monday hosted His Majesty King Letsie III of Lesotho at State House, Nairobi, for a courtesy call that underscored the growing diplomatic ties between Kenya and the Kingdom of Lesotho.

The meeting brought together senior government officials from both countries to discuss areas of mutual interest and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

During the engagement, President Ruto also held separate discussions with East African Community Secretary-General Stephen Mbundi on the progress of regional integration, trade and the free movement of people within the bloc.

The President said the East African Community remains Africa's most progressive regional bloc, noting that intra-EAC trade currently stands at about 20 per cent but has the potential to rise to 50 per cent through strategic interventions, including the harmonisation of tariffs.

He said the two leaders reaffirmed the EAC's role in promoting regional development, commerce, job creation and shared prosperity across East Africa.
