President William Ruto has flagged off electricity connectivity projects worth Sh46.05 million in Emgwen Constituency, Nandi County, as the government steps up efforts to expand access to power.
The projects, being implemented by the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), cover Cheindoi, Katanin, Kimolwo, Lutiet and Meswo.

The five projects form part of a wider electrification programme in Emgwen, where REREC is implementing 27 projects expected to connect 2,993 households upon completion.

Ruto was received at the event by Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary James Opiyo Wandayi.
REREC Chief Executive Officer Rose Mkalama briefed the President on the projects underway in the region. She was accompanied by the corporation’s General Manager for the IEC Directorate, Beatrice Njuguna, North Rift Regional Manager Jonah Kosgei, Communications Manager Christine Ndwiga and Security Manager Jillo Konde, among other officials.

The projects are expected to expand electricity access across the constituency, with the broader programme targeting thousands of households.
