A section of ODM officials in Trans Nzoia has announced its defection from the party to a political movement led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ahead of the 2027 General Election. The officials said their decision followed what they termed disrespect towards Sifuna and other leaders from the region despite their dedication to the party. They have vowed to spearhead a campaign across the Western region to mobilise more ODM members to support Sifuna.
