Nairobi is preparing for a landmark cultural event this Saturday, 25 July. The KICC Event Grounds will host the Agave Affair. This event is a partnership between Radio Africa Events, the KICC, and official sponsor Don Julio.

Dressing the Part: Agave Chic

The official dress code is Agave Chic. This curated aesthetic is inspired by earthy colours, agave greens, linen fabrics and relaxed contemporary fashion. Guests are encouraged to express their tequila personality through fashion.

For women, suggested looks include "The Fiesta Floral Mini" or "The Tequila Sunrise Silk Slip."

Because the festival is held on the 7,500 square metres of lush KICC lawn, footwear choice is practical. Organisers suggest that guests opt for block heels or elegant flat sandals over stilettos.

Etiquette for the Tequila Explorer

First-time guests can follow simple rules to navigate the 10-hour experience. One key rule is to hold your drink in your left hand. This keeps your right hand dry and clean for shaking hands with new acquaintances.

Pacing is essential for an event running from 4 PM to 2 AM. Experts recommend the "1:1 Rule." This means drinking one full glass of water for every alcoholic beverage. You should also eat a meal before arriving to help slow alcohol absorption.

The Star-Studded Sonic Journey

The festival features a curated sonic journey that moves through Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Afro-house. The full list of confirmed performers has been finalised.

The stage will be led by James Kibunja, known as MC Kibunjah. He is famously called "The Only MC with an LLB." Joining him is DJ Tophaz, also known as "Mr. 5ive Star." The lineup includes international star DJ Big Chipi and DJ Festa, known as "The Big Man." DJ Chunky Love, "The Hype Master," will also perform alongside Tha Daqchild and DJ Sir-M.

Beyond the Party Shot

A major goal of the festival is to change local drinking habits. Currently, 87% of Kenyan consumers have only ever taken tequila as a shot.

Agave Affair

The Agave Affair wants to show that quality 100% agave tequila is meant to be sipped and savored, not slammed and chased.
