Life often looks different after someone survives a major health battle. For award-winning rapper and entrepreneur King Kaka, that experience continues to shape how he views every new day, according to presenters on Kiss FM's The Morning Kiss.

King Kaka has previously spoken openly about the serious illness that saw him spend months in and out of hospital in 2021, describing it as one of the most difficult periods of his life.

During a recent discussion on The Morning Kiss hosted by Jeremy Wahome and Cyd Wambui, the presenters reflected on the rapper's outlook on life, saying his words now carry a deeper meaning because of what he endured.

'He speaks like someone who has faced mortality'

Cyd observed that King Kaka's reflections on life sound different because he has experienced a period of uncertain health.

"King Kaka speaks about his reflection as far as life is concerned... he speaks like someone who's faced their mortality."

She recalled the period when the musician was seriously ill, noting that Kenyans witnessed both his health struggle and his eventual recovery.

According to Cyd, that experience gave King Kaka a renewed appreciation for everyday life.

"Every day he wakes up, he recognises it as a new day to live, to breathe."

She added that King Kaka often reminds people that even the simplest daily activities should never be taken for granted.

"He said even just being able to lift your finger, just being able to do the mundane things and to live life, it's a blessing."

Jeremy Wahome reflects on his own hospital experience.

Jeremy agreed with Cyd's observations, saying extended stays in hospital can permanently change a person's outlook on life.

"I couldn't agree more. I know being in that hospital bed for a long time changes the way you think."

The presenter revealed that he had also experienced a lengthy hospital stay, saying it exposed him to a different reality.
According to Jeremy, illness often shows people who truly stand by them during difficult moments.

"You even find out all these friends, all these people who you think are there for you... they're not there. It's just you alone."

He said such moments become deeply personal, leaving people with little choice but to reflect and pray.

"You sit there, and you pray and pray and pray. Even when you get out of there, you're not the same guy. You see life through different eyes."

Fans echo the message.

The discussion resonated with many listeners, with social media users agreeing that good health is often only appreciated after it is threatened.
One listener, @_miss.buyaki, summed up the conversation in a simple message:
"Health is the underrated wealth."
King Kaka has, over the years, spoken candidly about how surviving his health scare transformed his priorities, with themes of gratitude, faith and purpose becoming increasingly evident in both his public interviews and music.
His reflections continue to resonate with many Kenyans who see his journey as a reminder that life itself is a gift.
