Despite the government's recruitment of 100,000 teachers over the past three years, public schools still face a shortage of more than 84,000 teachers. According to the Teachers Service Commission, the biggest gap is in Junior Schools, which require over 60,000 more teachers. The commission says counties with the greatest staffing shortages were prioritised during recruitment, with more hiring planned once funding is available.
