Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has warned politicians against propagating calls to split the Mt. Kenya region into distinct East and West political or administrative blocs. Speaking in Embu County, Kindiki urged proponents of the division to calm down and avoid divisive rhetoric ahead of the 2027 general election. Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku has recently revived a push for Mt. Kenya East to chart its own political path, citing historical marginalization by Mt. Kenya West.
