Cases involving people allegedly being drugged before being robbed, commonly referred to in Kenya as attacks by "mchele babes," have continued to draw public attention following the death of Nairobi-based quantity surveyor Edgar Otochi Mokua.

Disappearance and Investigation Details

According to information circulating online, Mokua reportedly went out to Club Ibiza in Nairobi, where he is said to have met a woman. The two allegedly spent part of the evening together before CCTV footage reportedly captured the woman placing an unidentified substance into his drink.

Reports claim Mokua later left the club with the woman before disappearing. His family subsequently launched a search after he failed to return home, circulating missing person posters across social media platforms. He was later found dead under circumstances that remain under investigation.

Authorities have yet to release the official post-mortem findings or determine the exact cause of death.

The incident has renewed discussions about the growing number of alleged drugging and robbery cases reported in entertainment venues and other social settings. In many reported incidents, victims claim they regained consciousness hours later after losing money, mobile phones, and other valuables, with little recollection of what had happened.
