Former US President Joe Biden has announced that he will publish a memoir reflecting on his four years in the White House, including his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.
The book, titled Promise Me, America, will be released November 17 and is now available for pre-order.
In a post on X, Biden said the memoir chronicles his journey from the 2020 presidential campaign through his administration and the difficult decision to step aside from seeking another term.
"I've written a book about my time as President. It's called Promise Me, America. It's coming out November 17 and is available for preorder now," Biden wrote.
According to the publisher's description, the memoir offers Biden's personal account of one of the most turbulent periods in modern US history.
It begins with his inauguration just weeks after the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol and during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The book details how his administration confronted a divided nation, economic recession and a public health crisis while seeking to restore confidence in American democratic institutions.
Biden also recounts the passage of major domestic policies, including a multibillion-dollar infrastructure programme, efforts to revive American manufacturing, legislation to lower healthcare costs and initiatives to combat climate change.
On foreign policy, he reflects on rebuilding traditional US alliances, strengthening NATO and leading international support for Ukraine following Russia's invasion.
One of the memoir's most anticipated sections focuses on Biden's decision in the summer of 2024 to end his re-election campaign.
The former president says he will, for the first time, reveal the "deeply agonising" deliberations that led him to withdraw from the race, describing the move as one that put his party and the country ahead of his personal ambitions.
The publisher describes the memoir as a story of resilience, leadership and public service, highlighting Biden's belief in the importance of personal relationships and bipartisan governance.
Biden served as the 46th President of the United States from 2021 to 2025.
Before entering the White House, he served two terms as vice president under Barack Obama and represented Delaware in the US Senate for 36 years.
The memoir is expected to offer fresh insight into the defining moments of his presidency and the political decisions that shaped the closing chapter of his White House tenure.
