Health specialists are calling for schools to play a bigger role in detecting hormone-related illnesses among children. Conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders and growth hormone deficiencies can affect learning, concentration, growth and behaviour but often go unnoticed. According to Dr Renson Mukhwani, teachers are often the first to notice symptoms such as unusual tiredness, excessive thirst or unexplained weight loss and can help trigger early medical intervention.
