Nairobi is gearing up for a new type of celebration this month. On 25 July 2026, the KICC Event Grounds will host the Agave Affair. This event is Nairobi’s Tequila Experience. It is organised in partnership with Radio Africa Events.
The Talent: From Law to the Turntables
The first wave of entertainers for the day has been announced. James Kibunja, better known as MC Kibunjah, will lead the crowd. He brings a unique blend of charismatic entertainment and a formal legal background to his work.
Joining him is the latest wave of turntable stars. DJ Big Chipi, one of the biggest female Amapiano DJs in Kenya and Tanzania.
Also joining is Tha Daqchild, whose real name is Gibson
Mudoga. Known as the "King of Good Times," he is famous for his high-energy
club sets.
They join previously announced acts like DJ Mista C. He is a renowned Nairobi-based DJ, producer, and live performance innovator. He is famous for his incredible wordplay and smooth transitions across sounds like Hip-Hop and Gengetone.
DJ Tophaz, also called "Mr. 5ive Star," is also on the bill. He has tens of millions of views on his online mix series likeVibez O’clock. He is celebrated for electrifying performances across genres including Afrobeat and Dancehall.
A Shift in Tequila Culture
The event aims to do more than just host a party. It wants to change how the country discovers and drinks this Mexican spirit. Currently, tequila is the third fastest-growing spirit category in East Africa. 
However, "87% of Kenyan consumers have only ever taken tequila as a shot".
Organisers want to move away from "fast, aggressive" consumption. Instead, they want to show it as a "sipping experience" paired with food. The name itself comes from the "blue agave plant" used to make the drink.
What to Expect at KICC
The venue will be transformed for the occasion. The setup includes a "Main Tent" with LED screens and "Brand Tents" for different tequila labels. There will also be a food court serving "tacos, BBQ & sliders" to match the drinks.
The event targets over 2,000+ guests. It will run from 4pm — late. Guests are encouraged to follow the Agave Chic dress code. This includes earthy tones and agave greens or boho-chic styles.
How to Join
Organisers say this is only the beginning of the lineup. More acts will be "revealed soon" to complete the "curated sonic journey". This journey starts with Afrobeats at sunset and ends with an Afro-fusion closing set.
