Kenyan social media personality Imo Unusual has sparked debate online after revealing that she would never marry a white man, saying her views are influenced by the history of slavery and the treatment of Black people.
In a video shared on her Instagram account, the influencer listed a number of personal opinions and life choices she believes she will never change. One of them centred on interracial marriage.
“Number one opinion, I will never marry a white man because slavery was not so long ago.”
Imo explained that historical events involving slavery and racial oppression have made her uncomfortable with the idea of having children with a white partner.

‘I’m too African to marry a white man’
While expanding on her views, Imo referred to historical accounts of slavery, colonialism and medical experimentation on Black people, saying those events continue to influence how she sees relationships today.
“They were using Black children and Black women for experiments, like lab experiments, the way they use animals.”

She concluded by saying:
“I’m too African to marry a white man.”
Imo’s remarks reflect her personal opinion and do not represent a broader view shared by all Africans.
Interracial marriages continue to exist across many countries, with individuals making relationship choices based on personal beliefs and circumstances.

Imo’s comments quickly attracted thousands of reactions, with some social media users supporting her stance while others challenged it.

“This is real talk gurllll.”
@cynthiabecky96 reacted humorously, saying:
“Did you just call them colonisers?”
Meanwhile, @lubega.arthur expressed support, writing:

The discussion highlighted the wide range of opinions that often emerge whenever conversations about race, identity and relationships gain traction online.
Not her first controversial statement
This is not the first time Imo Unusual has generated widespread discussion through her social media posts.
Weeks earlier, the content creator sparked another online debate after sharing a controversial opinion about men, sexuality and relationships on Instagram.
At the time, she wrote:
“I think being gay is the actual sexuality of men. I don’t think men were created for women; they were created for men. Makes sense why men bow down to other men.”
The remarks attracted significant criticism as well as support, with users debating her views across multiple social media platforms.
