Life has a way of bringing old memories back when they are least expected. Sometimes, it is not grand gestures that stand the test of time, but the small acts of kindness that remain unforgettable years later.
For Kenyan businesswoman and content creator Shiquo Wa Hii Style, one such memory resurfaced when she reunited with a man who had, nearly a decade ago, consistently shown his affection in a simple yet thoughtful way.
Sharing the encounter on social media, Shiquo recalled how the man would stop by her shop every day in 2016 before heading to school.
“Hii jamaa akienda shule kusoma English, lazima kila siku anapitia kwa duka yangu. In 2016 ananipea airtime ya asubuhi na jioni na anapatia mimi lunch.”

According to Shiquo, the routine became part of her daily life, with the man ensuring she had airtime every morning and evening, as well as money for lunch.
Although she did not reveal whether the two ever dated, her story painted a picture of a friendship built on consistency and thoughtful gestures rather than extravagant gifts.
A reunion that sparked nostalgia
The reunion quickly caught the attention of her followers, many of whom found humour in the story while others reflected on how relationships have evolved over the years.
Some joked that the man’s efforts had eventually paid off, while others teased him for investing so much into someone he admired.
Among the reactions, @kinyua_jr commented:
“Abdiii Whips 😂😂😂.”
Another user, @brian_dev_, simply wrote:
“Kinuthia! Kinuthia! 😂😂😂.”
Meanwhile, @devadd_laud jokingly asked:
“Na yeye alimpa kweli.”
Another follower, @muindekelvin, humorously added:
“Ndio maana aliuma nje 😂😂😂.”
The comments reflected the light-hearted nature of the reunion, with many reminiscing about how courtship often relied on small, everyday acts of generosity.
A different chapter after business setback
The reunion comes weeks after Shiquo opened up about one of the most difficult moments in her business journey.
The entrepreneur revealed that the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) had seized all the stock from her shoe shop at RNG Plaza in Nairobi’s Central Business District during an enforcement operation.
At the time, she said the seizure left her business without merchandise and affected dozens of people who depended on the shop for their livelihoods.
Despite the setback, Shiquo has remained active on social media, where she continues sharing both the challenges and lighter moments of her personal life.
Looking back with a smile
This time, however, it was not business that captured her followers’ attention, but a chance meeting that revived memories from nearly 10 years ago.
Her story served as a reminder that while people move on and life changes, some moments remain unforgettable—not because of their cost, but because of the thought behind them.

For Shiquo, the daily airtime and lunch money may have belonged to another chapter of her life, but the memory clearly endured long enough to make their reunion one worth sharing.
