Kenyan actress and digital content creator Jackie Matubia has shared her disappointment after her long-serving nanny reportedly left her employment without any notice, ending a working relationship that had lasted for nearly six years.

In a series of Instagram Stories, the actress said the departure caught her by surprise, especially because the two had already discussed plans for the nanny’s retirement later this year.

“My nanny of five years, close to six, has done me dirty. No matter how you treat them, these people will treat you like you were nothing. Tenda wema nenda zako!”

Matubia admitted that the experience had left her heartbroken, saying she had done everything she could to support the employee throughout the years.

“Weeh, yaani ata ukue mzuri aje… nimejichuna maskio.”

Despite her disappointment, the actress said she harbours no ill feelings towards the nanny and wishes her well in her next chapter.

Retirement plans cut short

According to Matubia, she and her nanny had agreed that the latter would retire in December this year to pursue her dream of running a business.
The actress revealed that she had already planned to give her a financial package to help her establish the venture.

“She had saved me so much, and we had agreed that she is retiring this year in December, so I had planned to give her some amount to start her business because she had said she wants to retire and start her business.”

Reflecting on their years together, Matubia said the employee had become part of her family’s journey and had achieved several personal milestones while working for her.

“I wish her well. I did my best. She came without a birth certificate; she left with a stamped passport and memories.”

Her remarks suggest that during her employment, the nanny was able to obtain important identification and travel documents, milestones the actress views as part of the support she offered over the years.

New nanny already hired.

Following her emotional posts, many parents and followers reached out to Matubia with messages of encouragement, while others jokingly volunteered to fill the vacant position.
The actress later returned to Instagram to thank those who had checked in on her, saying the overwhelming response had reminded her that many employers have experienced similar situations.

“Good morning, my loves. Thank you so much, mothers. I see your messages and nimeona siko peke yangu… but we move, si ni life!”

She also confirmed that she had already found someone to take over the role.

“I have seen all of you asking me to employ y’all. Unfortunately, I have already gotten a replacement, and I will pray for y’all who are waiting on God to bless them with a job.”
