The club confirmed the acquisition of the former KCB FC captain, describing the move as a statement of intent as they seek to build a more competitive squad.
Alembi returns to Murang’a with a wealth of experience after a successful spell at KCB, where he established himself as one of the league’s most reliable defenders and earned recognition for his leadership qualities.
The 30-year-old defender, popularly known as “Couch”, is expected to provide stability, organisation and guidance to Murang’a Seal’s backline. The move is also a homecoming for Alembi, who previously featured for Murang’a Seal during the early stages of his career before making the step up to bigger clubs, including Tusker and KCB.
His journey from the lower tiers of Kenyan football to becoming a top-flight captain has made him one of the country’s respected defensive figures.
At KCB, Alembi grew into a leader, wearing the captain’s armband and becoming a key figure in the bankers’ squad. His performances were built around physical strength, aerial ability and his understanding of defensive positioning.
Murang’a Seal believe those qualities will be vital as they aim to compete against established FKF Premier League sides. The club’s management hailed the signing as a major boost, highlighting Alembi’s experience and leadership as key factors behind the decision to bring him back.
For Alembi, the return represents an opportunity to give back to the club that helped shape his football career. Having gained valuable experience at the highest level, the defender now hopes to use his knowledge to inspire the next generation of Murang’a players. “I know what it takes to compete at this level, and I want to bring that experience to the team,” Alembi said. “My focus is helping the club grow, supporting the younger players and building a strong mentality within the squad.”
His arrival is expected to strengthen Murang’a Seal’s defensive structure, with the club seeking greater consistency and resilience at the back.
Coach Dennis Odhiambo believes having a player of Alembi’s calibre will improve the team’s organisation and confidence. “A defender with his experience gives the team balance. He understands the demands of this league and can guide those around him,” Odhiambo said.
Alembi’s career has been defined by steady progress. After making his mark at Murang’a Seal, he earned a move to Tusker before joining KCB, where he developed into a dependable defender and leader.
His performances also earned him opportunities with the national team setup, further underlining his growth as a player.
Murang’a Seal will now hope the experienced centre-back can help them build a solid foundation as they target improved performances in the Sportpesa Premier League.
