Nairobi’s social scene is preparing for a significant transformation this winter. On July 25, 2026, the city will host Agave Affair, its first-ever premium festival dedicated entirely to tequila. The event is a production by Radio Africa Events in partnership with the KICC.
Organisers aim to move the spirit away from being a "party shot" to a sophisticated “sipping experience.” This shift comes as tequila ranks as the third fastest-growing spirits category in East Africa.
However, market data reveals that 87% of Kenyan consumers have only ever experienced the drink as a quick shot.
The Psychology of the Pour
As the city gears up for the festival, your preferred tequila cocktail may say more about your personality than you think. According to beverage profiles, those who choose a classic Margarita are often viewed as vibrant, outgoing trendsetters who love being the centre of attention.

For the mature and sophisticated, drinking tequila neat or on the rocks signals a person comfortable in their own skin who appreciates heritage.
A Curated Ten-Hour Experience
The festival is designed as a 10-hour journey running from 4 PM until 2 AM. It features a large central "Main Tent" serving as the heartbeat of the event, surrounded by individual brand tents and cocktail bars.
Guests will follow a sonic journey of music that evolves throughout the night. This starts with warm Afrobeats during the "Golden Hour" and moves into soulful Amapiano.
The energy peaks with Afro-house and nostalgic Hip-Hop, before ending with an eclectic Afro-fusion set.
The "Agave Chic" Aesthetic
The event encourages a specific dress code called "Agave Chic". Attendees are expected to wear earthy tones, agave greens, and linen sets. Organisers describe the desired vibe as "Coachella meets Nairobi elegance."
To complement the drinks, a dedicated food court will serve tacos, BBQ, and sliders specifically paired with different tequilas.

Organisers are targeting a capacity of over 2,000 guests. Tickets are already in high demand, with the "Risky Sip" and "Pour Decision" categories already sold out. Remaining options available via Ticketyetu include:
- Early Bird: Ksh 1,500 and
- Group of 5 Package: Ksh 6,000
The event promises to be a "culture shift" in how Kenya discovers and celebrates the famous Mexican spirit.
