American rapper and singer Lil Nas X has shared details about his mental health journey, revealing that he spent several months in rehabilitation after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
In a message shared on his Instagram account, the artist said he had been focusing on grounding himself and reconnecting with everyday life after struggling with his mental health.
He explained that he had spent time in rehabilitation before returning home, dividing his time between Atlanta with his family and Los Angeles with friends while continuing his recovery.

Lil Nas X said he now works with both a therapist and a psychiatrist, describing the support as helpful in managing his condition.
Accepting the diagnosis
The musician admitted that he had suspected for several years that he might have bipolar disorder but had been reluctant to acknowledge it.
He said he initially resisted the idea of taking medication and spoke openly about the emotional challenges of processing multiple aspects of his identity.
“I feel like I had known for the past few years, but I didn’t want to admit to it because I didn’t want to have to take medication.”

Despite those challenges, Lil Nas X said he is now in a better place emotionally and mentally.
“I’m doing much better. I’m feeling better. I’m creating freely, and there’s less fear in my heart, and I’m just smelling the roses.”
New music on the way
The artist also used the opportunity to update fans on his music career.
He revealed that new music is on the way and said he is excited about entering a new chapter with his supporters.
“Thank you, guys, for holding me down. I love you, and all I want to do is continue to try to make you proud and make myself proud.”
