Nairobi’s social calendar is set for a significant addition. Agave Affair 2026 has been announced as the city’s first premium tequila experience.
The event aims to change how Kenyans perceive and consume the famous Mexican spirit.
The event is a Radio Africa Events production in partnership with the KICC. It is scheduled to take place on either July 25, 2026.
Beyond the Salt and Lemon
Currently, tequila is the third fastest-growing spirit category in East Africa. However, market data shows a gap in consumer knowledge. A staggering 87% of Kenyan consumers have only ever taken tequila as a quick shot.
Agave Affair intends to solve this by repositioning tequila as a premium lifestyle spirit. Instead of fast and aggressive consumption, the festival will encourage guests to savour the drink like a fine whisky, whether sipped neat or mixed into complex cocktails.
"This is not just another drink-up. This is Nairobi’s first true homage to tequila."
Ten Hours of Agave Culture
The festival is designed as a 10-hour experience, running from 4 PM to 2 AM. The layout includes a large central "Main Tent" acting as the heartbeat of the event, surrounded by individual brand tents and strategically placed cocktail bars.
Education is a core component. Guests will have the opportunity to discover the rich Mexican heritage and the centuries-old traditions of blue agave cultivation.
There will also be a dedicated "Food Court" featuring tacos, BBQ, and sliders specifically paired with different tequilas to elevate the tasting experience.
A Curated Sonic Journey
The entertainment programme follows a "sonic journey" that evolves as the day turns to night. The schedule includes:
- Golden Hour: Warm Afrobeats to welcome guests.
- Early Evening: Soulful Amapiano keys and basslines.
- Peak Evening: Deep Afro-house sets.
- Midnight: Timeless Hip-Hop and R&B throwbacks.
- Late Night: An eclectic Afro-fusion closing set.

Attendees are encouraged to follow a specific dress code dubbed "Agave Chic".This style focuses on earthy tones, agave greens, and boho-chic elements like linen sets and hats. Organisers describe the vibe as "Coachella meets Nairobi elegance."
