Content creator and social media personality Krisbabayy has encouraged women to prioritise financial independence, arguing that having a personal source of income provides security and freedom in relationships.
Speaking in a recent statement during an interview with President Law, Krisbabayy said women should avoid relying entirely on their partners for financial support.
"I also believe in a woman having her own money. Don't be fully dependent on a man. Men are not nice people," she said.

Growing Conversation on Women's Economic Empowerment
Financial experts have long argued that economic independence can help women make informed life decisions and reduce vulnerability during difficult circumstances such as unemployment, separation or unexpected family challenges.
Studies have also shown that women with independent incomes often have greater control over personal and family financial decisions.

Balancing Love and Financial Security
Relationship counsellors frequently emphasise that financial independence does not necessarily mean a lack of trust between partners. Instead, they describe it as a way of ensuring both individuals maintain a level of personal security while contributing to a shared future.
Many social media users who reacted to Krisbabayy's statement agreed that having one's own income can create a healthier balance in relationships. Others argued that successful partnerships are built on mutual support regardless of who earns more.
Despite differing opinions, the discussion highlighted the increasing attention being paid to financial literacy and economic empowerment among young adults.
"Don't be fully dependent on a man," Krisbabayy advised, reinforcing her belief that women should always have a financial safety net.
Changing Attitudes Among Young Women
Across Kenya and other parts of Africa, more women are pursuing higher education, entrepreneurship and formal employment opportunities than in previous generations.
This shift has contributed to changing attitudes towards money, relationships and long-term financial planning.

While opinions on Krisbabayy's remarks remain divided, her message has added to an ongoing public conversation about the importance of personal financial stability.
For many women, the ability to earn and manage their own money is increasingly being viewed not only as a practical necessity but also as a key aspect of personal empowerment and independence.
