The Bobea Leadership Awards Secretariat has officially released the nominee list for 2026, marking the start of a nationwide search for excellence in governance. This year, the awards have expanded to include 25 distinct categories, capturing every level of leadership from local wards to regional representation.
While the awards traditionally focus on legislative output and service delivery, a new category is stealing the spotlight. The "Impersonators Crown" has been introduced to honour creatives who use satire and mimicry to reflect the realities of public life.
Laughter as a Mirror to Power
The inclusion of satirists recognises the growing role of digital content creators in Kenya’s political conversation. These artists provide a unique form of social commentary, often holding leaders to account through humour.
Among those expected to feature in the contest are Prof Aduol, widely known for his uncanny impersonations of political figures such as Oburu Odinga. Another fan favourite is Jaymo Decin, whose mimicry of the Head of State’s voice, mannerisms, and dressing has earned him a massive online following.
"Bobea Leadership Awards 2026 is not just an event. It is Kenya’s scorecard for leadership... we are documenting who delivers, who protects public resources, and who inspires the next generation,” part of their statement on social media read.
A Broad Bench of Excellence
The 2026 edition is the most comprehensive yet. Beyond the creative categories, the list includes high-stakes races for Best Performing MP, Governor of Excellence, and Best Performing Cabinet Secretary.
Nominees such as Ndindi Nyoro, Babu Owino, and Ali Hassan Joho are already drawing significant public interest.
The awards have also gone regional with the introduction of the Best EALA Legislator category, covering all eight East African Community partner states. This expansion reflects the growing importance of regional integration in Kenyan politics.
The Road to the Red Carpet
Public voting opened at 8:00 A.M, 3rd June, and will remain active until midnight on 11th June. Citizens can cast their votes through the official portal at www.bobealeadershipawards.com. The process is entirely free, ensuring that every Kenyan has a say in who deserves the top honours.
The celebrations will conclude with a Black-Tie Gala Dinner at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Auditorium in Nairobi. Starting at 5:00 PM on 4th July, the event is expected to host a high-profile audience, including Presidents, Governors, and grassroots leaders. It promises to be a night of reflection on the state of the nation’s leadership.
