Kenyan content creator Robert Ndegwa, popularly known as Thee Pluto, has shared rare insights into his luxury car collection. During an appearance on the Over 1M Podcast with host Tony Mwirigi, the businessman discussed the various vehicles he has owned since finding fame.
The Fleet Evolution
Pluto’s first foray into car ownership started with a Nissan Juke. As his success grew, so did his garage. He eventually acquired two Toyota Prado G150s—one petrol and one diesel—alongside a Mazda CX-5 and a Subaru. Recently, he added a brand-new Mercedes C250 to his collection.
While he has owned more than seven vehicles throughout his career, he clarified that he currently keeps four at his residence. Despite the high-end options available to him, there is one vehicle that he rarely drives for personal leisure.
The Stationary Workhorse
When Mwirigi asked which car stayed in the car park for the longest time without being used, Pluto pointed to his double-cabin pickup. He explained that this vehicle serves a very specific purpose compared to his more prestigious luxury cars.
"Double cabin... because it has been doing work," Pluto stated, highlighting that the vehicle is primarily used for business operations rather than personal transport.
The YouTuber admitted that while he has a soft spot for the Toyota Prado, he occasionally feels he has "outgrown" certain vehicles. This shift in taste led him to explore more compact luxury options, such as his new Mercedes, for his daily commutes.
Funding the Lifestyle
The ability to maintain such a collection stems from Pluto’s diverse income streams. At the peak of his digital career, his "Loyalty Test" series on YouTube generated between 1.2 million and 1.5 million KES every month.
However, he is quick to point out that cars are not his primary focus for long-term wealth. He views them more as tools for status and networking.
"If you appear somewhere with a car... the conversation goes up," he remarked, suggesting that luxury vehicles change the "language" of business interactions.
Beyond the Garage
Pluto’s financial strategy involves moving away from liquid assets into more stable investments. He is currently a heavy investor in real estate, with multiple construction projects across Kenya. One of his properties in Riverside is already generating rental income.
He also holds shares in a large school. This investment has seen its valuation triple despite the business running at a loss for the first three years. For Pluto, the goal is to use his current fame to establish permanent businesses that will last long after the social media spotlight fades.
"The goal is to get rich, get out of social media, and travel the world," he concluded.
