Award-winning Kenyan lifestyle and food influencer Akoko Valery Oyugi, professionally known as Akoko Val, has announced the arrival of her second child.
The content creator gave birth to a baby boy on 17 September 2026 but kept it a secret. She released the video footage documenting her hospital experience one month after the delivery.
Akoko Val shared the birth journey through footage recorded on the day she entered hospital. Although she initially attempted a natural delivery, medical circumstances required a surgical intervention.
In her social media update accompanying the video, she wrote: "Finally got to meet our baby boy.” She explained: "Labored for hours only to end up in an emergency c section.
Hospital Timeline and Delivery
The video diary captures a detailed chronology of events starting on the morning of 17 September. At 9:25 a.m., she prepared to leave her home as her contractions began to intensify.
Before heading to the hospital, she reflected on her emotions and displayed a spiritual item given by family.
"Have my rosary. This was a gift from my mom-in-law. I'm going to pray, of course. I'm scared."
Upon her initial admission, medical examiners noted she was three centimetres dilated. By 4:00 p.m., her contractions remained manageable while medical staff monitored the baby's heartbeat.
Progress continued into the evening, with her water breaking at 7:12 p.m. after reaching four centimetres dilation.
As time passed, the physical strain of labour increased significantly. By 9:30 p.m., she experienced severe pain during the monitoring period.
"I feel so much pain. I feel like my back is on fire."
Despite hours of active labour, doctors ultimately performed an emergency Caesarean section to ensure a safe delivery. Following the procedure, she expressed gratitude, adding: "all in all our hearts are full.”
Her Family Growth
The arrival marks the family's second child, born six years after the birth of her firstborn child. Akoko Val first revealed her pregnancy in June 2026 through a beachside video reel filmed with her family on the Kenyan coast.
Akoko Val has built a prominent digital media presence in Kenya, focusing on culinary content, family routines, and home organisation. She earned the Food Influencer of the Year title at the 2025 Pulse Influencer Awards.
