Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has launched a Sh100 million bursary kitty, marking the final phase of the county’s bursary disbursement for the current financial year.
He presided over the issuance of bursary application forms to ward committees at the county headquarters in Kiambu Town.
Wamatangi said the exercise is part of the last batch of bursary support for the financial year. He noted that each beneficiary will receive between Sh5,000 and Sh10,000, while some will be awarded full scholarships.
County Executive Committee Member for Education Dr Mercy Njagi said the disbursements will be carried out with integrity. She added that the process is meant to ensure only deserving students benefit.
The bursary kitty, valued at Sh100 million, will be distributed through ward committees across the county.
Ward committees received application forms that will guide the selection of beneficiaries. The county government said the programme remains focused on supporting learners from needy backgrounds.
Officials said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen access to education in Kiambu. The final disbursement marks the end of the county’s bursary cycle for the financial year.
