According to police, the discovery was reported by the local Masinga Fishing Committee.

And a one-year-old girl died after drowning in a borehole at her family’s compound in Upper Kogony, Kisumu West Sub-County.
The child, aged one year and six months, was reportedly rescued from the borehole on Monday, October 19, but was pronounced dead on arrival at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).
The child’s mother told police that she had left her rental house for work on Monday, leaving her two daughters, aged seven years and one year and six months, behind.
At around 1:30pm, she received a telephone call from a neighbour, who informed her that the younger child had fallen into a borehole within their compound and had been rescued.
The child was rushed to JOOTRH, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police visited and documented the scene before commencing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The child's body is lying at the JOOTRH mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, police recovered the decomposed body of an unidentified middle-aged man from the muddy waters of the Ngong River in the Kianda area of Nairobi.
The body, believed to have been swept downstream by the river’s rising waters, was discovered stuck in mud as the river swelled amid increased water flow.
With the assistance of members of the public, the officers retrieved the body, which was found in an advanced state of decomposition.
The deceased was described as a middle-aged man of African origin, but police were unable to establish his identity at the scene.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Kayole processed and documented the scene before the body was transferred to the Nairobi City Mortuary.
The body is being preserved pending identification and a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police suspect the man may have been swept from another location by the raging waters, although his identity and the circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown.
