A new report released on May 12, 2026, by the Usawa Agenda has unveiled the current distribution of senior schools in Kenya by gender.

According to the data from the Usawa Agenda Report released on May 12, 2026, mixed-gender institutions overwhelmingly lead the sector, accounting for 76.3% of all senior schools.

The remaining share is split between single-sex institutions, with girls' schools making up 14.4% and boys' schools trailing at 9.3%.

These findings highlight a significant leaning toward co-educational environments as Kenya continues to refine its senior school infrastructure to meet national educational demands.
