Bomet Central MP Richard Kilel has defended the pace of implementation of government projects in the South Rift region, saying most of the initiatives launched by President William Ruto remain on course despite reported delays.

He said several development projects, including road tarmacking works, have already been initiated, assuring residents that contractors will soon be deployed to project sites.

Kilel spoke at Chebitet Comprehensive School in the Singorwet ward.

He urged residents to remain patient and give the president time to fulfil the commitments made during the election period.

Kilel cited the establishment and development of Bomet High School as one of the key projects supported by the head of state, noting President Ruto had injected Sh50 million into the institution.

He said the school is expected to be officially commissioned in August this year, adding that the President is also expected to donate a school bus to the institution.

The MP emphasised the President serves the entire country and must balance development efforts across all regions.

“As a region, we have our needs, yes, but we need to understand that our President is for the whole country and we should give him time to ensure all Kenyans are served,” he said.

Kilel expressed confidence that ongoing projects would be completed in due course, enabling residents to fully benefit from them.

On voter mobilisation, the MP said the President’s recent appeal to Kalenjin voters had been well received, claiming the region had achieved a 99 per cent turnout in voter registration.

He urged those who are yet to register to do so at constituency IEBC offices and Huduma Centres, saying the President was seeking strong participation from his support base ahead of future elections.

“We should register as voters and be ready to come out and vote for President Ruto to get a second term because he deserves it considering his record in national development so far,” the legislator said.

Kilel also commented on the upcoming Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election set for May 14, calling for peaceful campaigns and voting during the exercise.

He expressed confidence the UDA candidate, David Keter, would win the seat, insisting the DCP party had no political space in the region.

“Let’s support UDA in the by-election and even next year because it is a national party that takes care of our interests and those of all Kenyans,” he added.
