Shock as five-year-old boy is found dead in Nyamira tea plantation

Detectives are investigating the murder of a five-year-old boy whose body was found dumped in a tea plantation under disturbing circumstances in Borabu Sub-County, Nyamira County.

According to police, the body of the boy who is, a PP1 pupil at Jayden Academy, was discovered on Friday May 8 afternoon in a tea plantation.

Police officers visited the scene after the incident was reported and said child’s body was found lying in a supine position with visible injuries to the head and abdomen.

Investigators also noted blood stains on the inner pants, raising fears that the minor may have been assaulted before being killed and his body dumped in the tea plantation.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the child attended school on Thursday at Jayden Academy before being picked up by a bodaboda rider.

Police say the rider allegedly dropped him at a feeder road leading to his home, but the boy never arrived home.

His body was later discovered at around 1:30 pm on Friday.

The scene was processed by investigators and the body moved to Nyansiongo Mission Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.

Police said investigations into the murder are ongoing.

Meanwhile, police in Kimaeti Sub-County, Bungoma County, launched investigations into the death of a 42-year-old woman after her body was found bearing a suspicious stab wound.

According to police, the incident was reported on Friday evening after relatives of the deceased raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding her death.

The deceased, identified as Catherine Nafula, reportedly collapsed at around noon while at the homestead of her neighbour and was pronounced dead on the spot.

Her husband is said to have hired a private vehicle and transported the body to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary before later reporting the matter to police following pressure from relatives.

A team of investigators visited the mortuary and examined the body, where they discovered a visible stab wound on the inner side of the left upper limb, raising suspicion that the woman may have been subjected to violence before her death.

The body remains at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.

Police said efforts are underway to trace and arrest two suspects linked to the incident as investigations continue.
