Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna has declared his intention to ditch the Wiper Party ahead of next year's general elections.

The second-term lawmaker on Tuesday said he has not formally resigned from the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party.

He however said the manner in which he has been treated amounts to being pushed out.

He said he is considering alternatives ahead of the 2027 elections.

“All I know is that the voters are with me. The people have declared it is ‘CNN tano tena’. There is no doubt about it,” Nguna said. CNN stands for his name Charles Nguna Ngusya.

The lawmaker spoke at Mbondoni primary school in his constituency where he handed over a fully furnished administration block worth Sh5 million funded by the NG-CDF board.

Nguna maintained that despite his political alignment with President William Ruto’s broad-based government, he harbours no personal conflict with Kalonzo or other political leaders.

“I have no qualms with anyone seeking the presidency. Both Kalonzo and President Ruto are my friends,” he said.

Nguna said he's focused on development and not political confrontation. He urged leaders to avoid unnecessary political disputes.

He said his decision to work with the Kenya Kwanza administration has yielded tangible benefits for Mwingi West, including increased youth employment and accelerated infrastructure development.

Among the key projects he cited is the ongoing tarmacking of the Kwa Siku–Mbondoni road, part of the Kibwezi–Mwingi highway, which he said had stalled for years.

“The progress of this road is encouraging, and it will be completed under my leadership. By December this year, the project will be done,” he said.

Nguna said the new administration block at Mbondoni Primary School was funded by the NG-CDF board, following recognition of Mwingi West as one of the top 10 best-managed constituencies in the country.

He said the recognition was based on strong project implementation practices during the last financial year, which earned the constituency additional support.

“Our constituency was recognised for adopting best practices in project implementation, earning us a place among the top ten and a special allocation for our performance,” he said.

He pledged to sustain the development momentum, adding that his focus is on improving service delivery and ensuring Mwingi West remains among the best-performing constituencies.
