The controversial Kisii-based gospel artist Christopher Nyangwara, better known as Embarambamba, has finally met with Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
The meeting follows a week of intense social media chatter triggered by a dramatic video of the musician in his trademark style.
A Plea from the Mud
The road to the Ministry began in a muddy field. In a video that quickly went viral across Kenyan social media platforms, Embarambamba was filmed soaking in thick mud while shouting at the top of his lungs.
Dressed in his signature colourful suits, the artist appeared distraught. He repeatedly cried out that the Minister’s phone was unreachable.
"Minister, your phone is unreachable, let me call you dad. Hear my voice," he shouted in the recording.

During the stunt, he referred to the Cabinet Secretary as "dad" and "Waziri," pleading for someone to help him get through to the government official.
Such stunts have become a hallmark of the artist’s career, often involving him rolling in dirt, climbing trees, or chasing livestock to get his message across.
The Face-to-Face Encounter
The artist's unconventional methods appear to have worked. A few days after the mud-soaked plea, he was invited to a formal meeting with the Cabinet Secretary.
The meeting took place in the morning and was facilitated by Kisii County MP Doris Donya. Unlike his appearance in the viral video, the artist was pictured in a more composed setting, though still retaining the vibrant energy that has made him a household name.
Following the discussion, the Cabinet Secretary praised the musician’s unique approach to his craft. He described Embarambamba as a "talented musician and comedian" whose energy allows him to connect with audiences nationwide.
Support for the Creative Sector
The meeting served as more than just a photo opportunity. It highlighted the government's stance on the growing creative economy. The Cabinet Secretary noted that the industry is a vital source of jobs for young people.
"We continue to support the creative industry because it is a critical source of employment for many young people and a powerful tool for promoting positive change in society," the Minister stated.
The Minister further described Embarambamba as a "truly unique cultural voice" due to his ability to reach a wide demographic across the country.

A Mission Beyond Music
While the artist is often known for his controversial and eccentric performances, the Minister used the meeting to set a new agenda for the gospel star. He encouraged Embarambamba to use his massive platform for social good.
Specifically, the artist was urged to harness his "wide reach" to promote positive values.
Embarambamba has long been a figure of debate in Kenya. His career has been marked by several run-ins with regulators over the nature of his content. He previously gained notoriety for his "theatrical" gospel videos, which some viewers found entertaining while others viewed them as a breach of religious decorum.
Despite the controversies, his recent meeting with a top government official suggests his influence continues to grow, moving from the muddy trenches of viral videos to the corridors of power.
