Azeezah Hashim, the popular Citizen TV presenter, has taken a firm stand against online rumours regarding her age. In a series of recent Instagram stories, the media personality addressed reports claiming she is 27 years old. Hashim jokingly insists she has just turned 19.
The dispute began after several Kenyan entertainment blogs published posts about her birthday. Hashim, often referred to by her fans as the "Media Messiah," decided to speak out directly to her followers.
She expressed frustration that external sources were trying to define her life story.
Calling Out the Blogs
In her video message, Hashim did not mince her words. She specifically named certain platforms, including Kenya Gossip. She demanded that they remove the misleading content from their pages immediately.

For the presenter, the ultimate proof of her age lies with her parents. She noted that her mother was the one who personally celebrated her 19th birthday with her. She challenged the audacity of bloggers who think they know more than her own mother.
Hashim made it clear that she trusts her family's records over the speculation found on social media.
"Guys, my own mother has wished me a happy 19th birthday, and you there are posting a different figure, do you want to argue with my mother?” she said in a video.
She joked that bloggers were claiming to have facts that contradicted her own knowledge.
The "Estate" Argument
One of the main reasons bloggers claimed she was older was their supposed shared history. Some individuals claimed they grew up in the same residential "estate" or neighbourhood as the presenter. They argued this gave them a clear timeline of her upbringing.
Hashim was quick to dismiss this logic. She questioned how living in the same area proves anything about her official birth year. She suggested that being a former neighbour does not make someone an authority on her age.
“Those saying that we grew up in the same estate, how does that relate with my age? And Kenya Gossip, delete that post faster, I’m 19,” she added.

A Rapid Rise in Media
Azeezah Hashim has become one of the most recognisable faces in Kenyan entertainment journalism. She first built a loyal fan base on NTV, where she hosted the popular youth programme Teen Republik.
Her transition to Citizen TV, which is part of Royal Media Services, was a major milestone in her career.
She now hosts a high-profile entertainment show on Friday nights. This increased visibility has made her a frequent target for celebrity gossip sites. In the Kenyan digital space, "age-gate" scandals are common. Many celebrities are accused of "reducing" their ages to appear more relatable to younger audiences.
