Nairobi United midfielder Roy Okal has expressed confidence that the club can secure a top-five finish in the Kenyan Premier League, as they look to close out the season strongly in the final rounds of fixtures.

Nairobi United currently sit in sixth place on the league table and remain in contention for a higher finish depending on results in the remaining matches. The team’s most recent league outing ended in a 2-1 victory over Mathare United at Kasarani Annex, a result that helped strengthen their position in the top half of the standings.

Okal said the win provided momentum, but stressed that consistency will determine whether they achieve their target.

“We are targeting a top-five finish this season, and that result against Mathare United was proof of what we are capable of when we stay focused,” Okal said.

He added that the squad is fully aware of the importance of maintaining concentration in the final stretch of the campaign.

“We understand the position we are in. Now it is about staying disciplined and making sure we do not waste any opportunity,” he said.

Okal further noted that the remaining fixtures will require maximum effort from the entire squad, as the margins between teams in the middle of the table remain tight.

“Every match from now on is crucial for us. There is no room for inconsistency at this stage,” he said.

Nairobi United’s next league assignment is against Tusker FC, a fixture expected to play a key role in shaping their final league position as the season approaches its conclusion.

Head coach Geoffrey Oduor also maintained that the top-five target remains achievable, but insisted that the team must show greater control in key phases of matches.

He said the technical bench has been working on improving game management, particularly in closing out tight games and maintaining structure under pressure.

“The top five finish is still achievable if we remain consistent and focused in every match we play,” Oduor said.

He added that while the team has shown progress throughout the season, results will ultimately define their campaign.

“We have improved in many areas, but improvement must now be reflected in points on the table,” he said.

Oduor further emphasised the importance of discipline, noting that lapses in concentration have previously cost the team valuable points.

“We cannot afford mistakes at this stage of the season. The details will decide everything,” he said.
